ARE YOU LOOKING FOR A MENTOR?
One of the first questions new notaries ask is where they can find a mentor. This is true for both mobile notaries looking to start their business and office notaries who need help understanding how to carry out their basic duties. When searching for a good mentor, these are the important things to look for:
- Knowledge of your state's notary laws. (The most common questions relate to notary laws, because all 50 states are different. The law is subject to interpretation and this can often times lead to gray areas. There are also occasions where the law is silent about certain issues.) With our services we will focus on North Carolina.
- Integrity and professionalism. (Whether looking for business-building guidance or help with notary questions, you want a mentor who is meticulous about following proper procedures and ethical practices. A notary who disregards asking signers for proper ID, who doesn't require personal appearance or keep a journal record is not the right person to mentor you. )
- Patience and availability. (When seeking out a mentor, remember that the mentor's role is to assist you with mastering the fundamentals of notarization. Success takes time and you can appreciate the guidance they will offer in this process when establishing communication that will help you with an immediate need.)
